Scouted: Joseph profile
When, as a scout, you find someone you think is really great and hasn't been caught by other scouts you get really excited. Because I work with NEXT, Elite, Premier and Select it gives me a great chance to show budding models off to some of the industry giants.
Probably one of the most exciting finds at the Clothes Show was....
Joseph of Staffordshire
On this particular day my buddy Xander (see earlier posts) had joined me at the Clothes Show to scout.
The day had been pretty quiet actually and we'd been scouting people who were already modelling.
Just as we were getting frustrated we looked up and saw this young lad in front of us, looked at each other and both nodded in agreement we have to stop him and have a chat. At first Joe was really shy and wasn't really sure why two guys had just stopped him. As he was working on a stall he couldn't stop for long and so we exchanged numbers for him to call after work.
The night had gone on and the show ended for the day some hours ago and then suddenly just as I was thinking about going to bed my phone went. Not knowing the number, I answered curiously...and it was thankfully Joe.
He went on to explain he was in a rush earlier and couldn't speak properly and so wanted some more information. We then arranged to meet up the next day to grab some snaps to show contacts in London.
Following the end of the Clothes Show altogether I showed all of my contacts in London and all really liked Joe as well as other agencies that friends work for.
A trip down to London later and Joe had come away with some exciting news that the agents loved him and would sign him but needed him to grow 1.5 inches taller.....great!!
Working with some top brands including G-Star, Republic and Superdry, Joe rocked it and worked with a full team of make-up, hair, stylist and photographer like a true professional. His ease in front of the camera was unbelievable and needed very little direction throughout, which is an amazing sign of things to come.
Working on location with fading light and temperatures nose diving Joe didn't once become a diva and my sixth sense tells me he actually quite enjoyed showing off in front of the passing crowds whilst on location.
A Fashion Student himself Joe is well aware of good style and what does and doesn't work well for him.......unless it's boiler / jump suits haha.
G-Star had an amazing boiler suit on the girls rail, however it was completely and without question androgynous and really suited him. Let's face it boiler suits are traditionally seen as guys wear anyway what with its link to trade etc. Anyway we had our first blushes and shyness as he put on his 'girls' boiler suit, but never the less pulled off some great shots.
Already causing a stir in London it's not bad when at 16 year old lad from a small Staffordshire village is partying in Mayfair with models, celebs and industry big wigs, dressed in Vivienne Westwood............GOOD LUCK JOE, here's to your 2012 mate!!!
